A few consistent frameworks to test gravity using galaxy clusters

Lead Research Organisation: Durham University
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

Study of halo properties in modified gravity gravity models, and based on the studies work on a framework to test gravity using galaxy cluster observations. The research involves cosmological N-body and hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy clusters, and the analyses of large amount of data (typically hundreds of snapshots) to make theoretical predictions of halo properties to compare with theoretical models.

Description School visit to my institute
Form Of Engagement Activity Participation in an open day or visit at my research institution
Part Of Official Scheme? No
Geographic Reach Regional
Primary Audience Schools
Results and Impact Two groups of students (from two schools in the region) attended a visit to my institute. With two other postgraduates, I planned a half-hour interactive activity for each group, with the theme being the scales of the Universe. During a power-point presentation, the pupils engaged in problem-solving activities and asked questions at the end.
