Modelling Crystallisation: developing and applying methods for modelling the effects of additives on the growth of crystals from solution

Lead Research Organisation: University College London
Department Name: London Centre for Nanotechnology

Abstract

The studentship is part of an exciting new project whose objective is to develop new ways to control crystallisation by combining cutting-edge experiment and modelling to understand the mechanisms that determine how inorganic crystals nucleate and grow. The student will help to develop and apply methods for modelling the effects of additives on the growth of crystals from solution, with aim of developing a new framework for predicting the effects of additives on crystal growth and properties. The modelling studies will be pursued in tandem with complementary experimental work performed by researchers at the Universities of Warwick and Leeds.
