The role of tribalism in sub-Saharan terrorist groups

Abstract

The project aims to explore the role of tribal identity in sub-Saharan terrorist groups. Using both the Mau Mau (post-colonial group) and Boko Haram (contemporary group), the project aims to explore the way in tribal identity effects these groups, therefore, framing out understanding of such groups with African cultural society.

The research shall require some field work in Nigeria and Kenya in order to carry out interviews and surveys on the local populations.
