Abstract
This project aims to investigate the links between specific sensorimotor integration deficits and social difficulties in autism. Greater understanding of this link will allow for the development of sensory training paradigms that will have a meaningful impact on social functioning.
This project addresses 3 key research questions:
1) To what extent does delayed visuo-tactile-proprioceptive integration predict poor performance on social processing tasks (i.e. self-prioritisation and visual perspective-taking)?
2) To what extent does intensive sensory training promote improvements in sensory integration in children with autism?
3) Does improvement in sensory integration modulate social processing (i.e. self-prioritisation and visual perspective taking)?
