Search for exotic long lived particles with the ATLAS detector at the LHC

Abstract

Many models beyond the Standard Model predict new particles with life times that are long enough for these particles to decay within the ATLAS detector volume. To search for such long lived particles (LLP) signatures new reconstruction techniques are needed. This project will extend techniques to reconstruct displaced decay vertices of bottom hadrons to longer decay length.
