Abstract
With the emergence of new technologies for the IoT and 5G and the corresponding increase of device integration into terrestrial and industrial environments, interference due to electromagnetic emissions has become an increasingly important factor in system design. The detection of extremely low level of electromagnetic emissions remains a challenging metrological problem however, due to high levels of ambient noise and electromagnetic interference from surrounding electronic systems. This project proposes to develop a novel receiver, with very high sensitivity, through innovation in antenna and circuit design and signal processing which allows for the traceable detection and characterisation of low levels of electromagnetic emissions to improve future design approaches.
