Prolapse: informing a new intervention to raise awareness and help women seek help sooner.

Lead Research Organisation: University of Stirling
Department Name: Health Sciences

Abstract

This research aims to co-produce a theory-based intervention to increase women's knowledge of vaginal prolapse, and change intentions to seek help for early symptoms.

The research questions are:
1. What are the specific barriers and facilitators to women's help-seeking behaviour for prolapsesymptoms?
2. What behaviour change techniques (BCTs) are likely to be effective in changing help-seeking behaviour for prolapse symptoms?
3. What content and mode of delivery are likely to be acceptable to women, Health Care Professionals (HCPs) and Health Service Managers (HSMs)?
4. What is the feasibility of delivering this intervention at the time and setting of cervical screening?
5. Is intervention content, mode and setting of delivery acceptable and feasible to women and HCPs?
