Lifetimes of exotic nuclei
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Manchester
Department Name: Physics and Astronomy
Abstract
This work aims to optimise nuclear lifetime measurement techniques using a differential plunger device so that it can measure lifetimes in exotic nuclei for the first time. The first part of this work will concentrate on measuring lifetimes with heavy ion fusion-evaporation reactions in JYFL. The second part of this work will concentrate on measuring lifetimes at Isolde, CERN using transfer reactions.
