Experimental quantum communications enabled by single photons

Abstract

We will experimentally investigate the use of single photons to implement and enhance current quantum communications protocols. Emphasis will be given to recent protocols such as measurement-device-independent and twin-field quantum key distribution. Single photons will be generated mainly by spontaneous parametric down conversion of laser radiation through a highly nonlinear crystal.
