Abstract

This STFC Doctoral Training Programme PhD will initially be dedicated to undertaking analysis on SKA pathfinders and ASKAP data in particular. The discovery space for the SKA is vast, with novel results already coming out of the initial survey results (cf., FLASH, EMU, etc.). We aim to produce stacked data products from these surveys. Stacking here is explicitly intended to be the (smart and directed) process of overlaying many different short exposures, and augmentation by randomly rotating each and labelling the stacks in multiple ways (e.g., according to environment). In this instance, stacking will take all radio emitting object from ASKAP and marry these observations up with information provided by matching surveys at other wavelengths to provide multi-wavelength diagnostics in order to elucidate where (and when) the cold inflow of gas appears in the large-scale structure of the Universe and how it affects the galaxies it feeds.
