Ion exchange mechanisms in zeolites

Abstract
Zeolite catalysts are frequently generated by making the desired framework and then exchanging the as-synthesized charge-compensating ion with some other ion that then activates the material. This project seeks to understand how this process occurs at the atomic level and why frequently the exchange process is less efficient than at should be.
