Exploring Artificial Intelligence to Develop the Analysis of Acoustic and Archival Telemetry Data: Unveiling Insights into Shark Movement (SAS0190)

Lead Research Organisation: Edinburgh Napier University
Department Name: School of Applied Science

Abstract

Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the analysis of telemetry data is an important turning point in fisheries science, providing unprecedented insights into fish behaviour and their responses to environmental changes. This proposed PhD project seeks to investigate the revolutionary potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in analysing telemetry data to increase our understanding of fish movement patterns and behaviours, ultimately leading to the development of adaptive management strategies for sustainable fishing. This may also provide insights into developing pattern predictions, which are significantly more viable for future research on the subject, as well as identifying and alerting about any severe alterations or threats caused by the environmental crisis.
