Abstract

Ultra-high field MRI provides high resolution anatomical and functional imaging which enable us create 3D printed model of soft tissues for surgery practice. To plan the surgery digitally and physically, the details of anatomy with their function is needed. 7T MRI enables the high-resolution imaging of soft tissues which leads to enhanced utilisation of 3D printing for patient-specific pathology models. 3D printing has demonstrated preliminary efficacy for anatomical modelling, preoperative surgical planning, and intraoperative guidance, in addition to simulation and training, all contributing equally towards the advancement in therapeutic interventions of diseases. Ongoing studies on obtaining anatomical and functional 7T MRI on kidney, prostate and spinal cord promise improved personalized cancer treatment options. However, they are yet not realised with optimised MRI coil and surgical phantom design, which is what we aim to realise in this project.
