Exploration of pair plasma influence on fundamental radiation characteristics of pulsars

Abstract
An energetic electron emitted at the pulsar polar crust radiates very energetic photons, which then interact with the magnetic field (B) to produce electron-positron pairs. The B-dependence for each process (radiation, absorption) is different, suggesting that small fluctuations in B may have a strong influence on the pair production. The disturbance of the existing pair plasma (via the creation of new pairs) may provide the collective influence that can alter ambient magnetic fields, promoting or demoting specific processes in terms of threshold parameters (field strength, direction, photon energy), and so fundamentally changing the character of radiation processes.
