Precise measurement of heavy quark jet structure

Lead Research Organisation: University of Glasgow
Department Name: School of Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

This project aims to make measurements in unprecedented detail to identify the differences in radiation pattern for heavy- vs light-flavour hadronic jets, using novel statistical methods and measurements, and assisted by new developments in MC modelling of heavy flavour. The results will improve the performance of b-tagging algorithms as well as elucidating the treatment of heavy quarks in perturbative QCD.
