Quantum Information Measurements in LHC Collider Events

Lead Research Organisation: University of Glasgow
Department Name: School of Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

The key objectives of Jay's research are to develop quantum entanglement analyses on the ATLAS experiment. Specifically, he will join develop searches for Bell Inequality violation and other Quantum Information measurements in Higgs decays and events containing top quarks. The entire research project is novel and timely as this field of research is a very new one for hadron colliders and many of these measurement have never been performed before. Jay's work will involve using machine learning to assist in the reconstruction of unstable particles in data, signal extraction from background noise in collider events, and state-of-the-art correction for detector effects using profile likelihood based unfolding.
