The chapter explores what the active presentation and discussion of creative and artistic BSL can bring to L2 students in the BSL classroom. We used findings from our research into hearing studentsÕ responses to BSL storytelling, poetry and humour to illustrate attitudes to learning BSL as an L2 through active engagement with creative BSL and ways in which it can improve the learning experience. We report on what Òactive engagementÓ with creative BSL would entail, and how tutors might build it
