Abstract

The High Efficiency Laser Processing Systems (HELPSYS) project aims to develop low cost fibre coupled diode laser sources with beam qualities good enough to be applicable to a broad range of mainstream applications. Unique corrective techniques will be used to maintain the brightness of the diode laser sources and optimise fibre coupling efficiency to the point where they are more efficient than other laser material processing and conventional welding systems.
