"Hitler has created a resurrection of the German people": Perceptions of the Third Reich in the Church of England, 1933-1945.

My research seeks to understand the breadth of views and opinions members of the Church of England had towards the Third Reich. It contrasts these views with studies of the Third Reich itself to understand how those in the Church perceived the regime and understand what informed views that differed from the reality in Germany. In all this I integrate recent research showing that support and opposition to the Third Reich were not binary choices, but that conflicted opinions were often held by the same individuals at the same time.
