Department Name: Sch of Biosciences
Abstract
Proteins in the H-NS family are involved in gene regulation and the control of mobile genetic elements. The project aims to understand the function of such proteins in the priority pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii. Using methods to include native Tn-seq and ChIP-seq the project will study H-NS-like proteins on a global scale. Subsequently, we will use molecular biology and genetic tools to understand how these proteins control genes and transposable elements to influence A. baumannii evolution.
