Soft Diffraction Studies with ATLAS at the LHC

Abstract
This project will involve the analysis of diffraction events using data samples collected from `Roman pot' insertions to the beampipe approximately 200m from the ATLAS interaction point. In addition, operational work related to the ATLAS Level-1 Calorimeter Trigger (L1Calo) is included in the PhD training.
