DISSECTING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHOSPHINOSITIDE3-KINASE ACTIVITY AND L-SELECTIN EXPRESSION BY LEUCOCYTES

Lead Research Organisation: CARDIFF UNIVERSITY
Department Name: School of Medicine

Abstract

The classical view of L-selectin function in T cell homing was restricted to naïve and central memory trafficking to lymph nodes; however our new data has overthrown this dogma. We have shown that CD8+ T cell dependent virus clearance from infected organs is limited by the level of L-selectin expression on early stage effector T cells and maintaining high L-selectin levels (gain of function) boosts CD8+T cell immunity.
