Anti-doping beyond 2021: Athletes rights while striving to preserve sport integrity

Lead Research Organisation: Swansea University
Department Name: College of Engineering

Abstract

The project will ethically analyse the direction of anti-doping, following the changes to the World Anti-Doping Code (WADC) in 2021, and assess whether athletes' rights are protected in this developing anti-doping system. The project is not restricted to an elite sport focus it will also consider the extension of anti-doping initiatives into recreational contexts as part of its first aim. The project will consider the ethics of intelligence lead approaches to anti-doping, and the implications of recent high profile revelations concerning Russian athletes and anti-doping more generally.
