How and why do governments pick specific partners to implement official development assistance?

Lead Research Organisation: London School of Economics and Political Science
Department Name: Sociology

Abstract

Abstract: The project aims to contribute to knowledge on decision-making processes in ODA and on the partners available to donors. This project is to understand how funds are allocated to different types of partners, focusing on practices rather than policies. Previous research has looked at why governments associate with one type of partner instead of delivering services directly. New research, including this PhD project, is now looking into why and how governments chose a type of partnership over another.
