INVESTIGATING NANOKICKING AS A CANCER TREATMENT AND BIOIMPEDANCE SENSING AS A NON-INVASIVE DIAGNOSIS OF RECURRENT CANCER

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Engineering

Abstract

The long-term goal is to design a sensor which can be implanted in the brain following tumour resection surgery, which will detect recurrent cancer cells and actively try to treat them. My master's research involves using nanovibrations to direct differentiation of cancer stem-cell like cells from a glioblastoma multiforme cell line. This could have therapeutic applications as stand-alone research, and will also form part of the base for further research at PhD level
