"Internet of Things" Alliances: conflicting cognitive frames in new product development

Lead Research Organisation: City St George’s, University of London
Department Name: Faculty of Management

Abstract

The "Internet of Things Alliances" project, is a comparative analysis of the Internet of Things strategic alliances that aims to explore how new product development is shaped by cognitive frames of partners grounded in different practices of the physical and the digital world. The project focuses on the prominent R&D cooperation of Bosch with its partners. The overarching objective is to define and analyse the opposing mental models held by managers, and explore their connection with the new product development practices. In developing a comparative evidence base, the research aims to contribute to understanding how the potential conflicting views are resolved and how the process of new product development can be optimized.
