Mathematical and Computational Modelling of Nuclear Criticality Safety in Particulate Dispersed Multiphase Media

Lead Research Organisation: Imperial College London
Department Name: Mechanical Engineering

Abstract

The aim of this PhD project is to develop novel mathematical and computational models to perform nuclear criticality safety assessment for wetted/damped fissile powders (UO2 and PuO2), suspensions, slurries, cakes and sludge's. Nuclear criticality safety assessment is a key discipline area of nuclear safety analysis for both operational nuclear power plants (NPP) as well as nuclear fuel processing facilities that handle nuclear fuel and materials.
