Measuring quality of life of people with an intellectual disability: a multidisciplinary perspective

Lead Research Organisation: UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON
Department Name: Division of Psychiatry

Abstract

I believe evaluation based on quality of life outcomes has the potential to shift social care provision
further towards services which enable people to define and strive for what matters most to them. With
this PhD I wish to interrogate the reliability and validity of the quality of life measurement tool, to
understand if it is fit for purpose and whether the benefit it offers justifies the cost to conduct. I want to
look at how scores change over time and geographic location to understand how wider changes in health
and social care, and budget provision, impact at a personal level.
