Abstract
On the occasion of the Scottish Universities Summer School in Physics "LHC Physics",
- to engage school groups and the general public from rural areas around Fife, Perthshire and Kinross, with LHC science:
-- stimulating their interest in LHC physics and technology,
-- deepening their understanding of the physics beyond what is reported in the popular press,
-- raising their awareness of the spinoffs and effects of the research on everyday life, and
-- emphasizing the role that Scottish and other UK STFC researchers play in the LHC projects.

I am in regular contact with Prof Pete Watkins (Birmingham), who is the UK contact for the European Particle Physics Outreach group.
