Printed Organic Electronics Technology Innovation through CFD (POETIC)

Abstract

The use of solution processed organic semiconducors promises to reduce the cost of electronic, display and photovotaic devices. The potential lies in the fact that these materials can be deposited at high speed over large areas using standard printing techniques. One challenge has been in controlling the drying behaviour of complex formulations of organic semiconductors so that the desired electro-optical behaviour of the resulting dried film is obtained. The aim of this project is to develop commercially viable computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulation techniques that can model the drying behaviour of organic semiconductors taking in to account the flow and concentration distribution outside the the drying film.
