EVAMBA - Experimental Validation of Active Magnetic Bearing for Aerospace
Lead Participant:
NEMA LIMITED
Abstract
The project: Experimental Validation of Active Magnetic Bearings for Aerospace (**EVAMBA**) will bring together NEMA, an aerospace systems developer and Kugel Motion, an aerospace rolling bearing company, in the common aim of creating the first aerospace ready Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) system. The consortium will develop, build and thoroughly test innovative AMB components. AMBs levitate the shaft of rotating machines in free space, eliminating noise, vibration, friction and the upper speed limit imposed by other bearings. This will reduce system weight, emissions & maintenance, and improve reliability & efficiency. Aerospace ready AMBs will expedite the electrification of aerospace, improving quality of life and protecting the environment.
