MOVE MORE LIVE MORE.

Abstract

Falls in over-65's are considered by many to be a consequence of ageing. They are not, but falling, even once, creates a circle of frailty, leading the faller directly to loss of confidence, loss of mobility and loss of independence. Our consortium of SMEs, one charity, one social care organisation, a public body and an academic institution bring together a value chain of provision of care to older people, using technology to provide services in an effective and cost effective way.

The project:
* demonstrates and evaluates the impact of a short term fixed length high technology interventions to reduce the risk of falls and improve wellbeing for over 65s.
* tests additional interventions designed to delay the onset of falls in people that have never fallen and those that have only fallen once.
* Designs and applying behaviour change techniques to create new habits of regular activity in participants.

We will establish the business case for commercial service roll out into the private care sector and as a public service underpinned by economic analysis and programme evaluation to determine the economic and qualitative value it offers to public health and to the users themselves.
