Arithmix: A no-code multi-dimensional data aggregation tool utilising novel user access controls to permit secure, collaborative, cross organisational analytics

Abstract

Filigree Technologies Ltd is seeking to provide institutions with a cross-collaborative, spreadsheet-like, platform for building numerical business models, that drastically reduces the complexity of data management and improves efficiency by automating repeatable steps.

Filigree is building on their current platform, 'Arithmix', a visual, code-free, accessible modelling and analysis tool. This project will pioneer granular User Access Controls (UAC), providing a first-in-class multi-dimensional, cloud-based model sharing platform.

User Access Controls (UAC) entails the management of user accounts and access privileges, to protect against misuse and unauthorised access to datasets. Traditional spreadsheets can constrain sensitive information that can't be broadly disseminated as they don't have multiplayer, so information has to be manually collected and processed. Multiplayer spreadsheets suffer from unintentional user error, and the inability to handle and guide business processes.

Insider misuse is one of the most common incident classification patterns in corporate data breaches, closely linked to staff access to sensitive and valuable data \[Verizon,2015\]. 55% of internal misuse incidents were the result of privilege abuse, with the most affected industries being public, healthcare and financial services. Filigree aims to replace the existing costly and unscalable business modelling tools in these sectors, with a user-centric, accurate and collaborative approach.

Current approaches lack security functions, and provide poor accessibility, causing productivity losses and high costs. Artihmix will eradicate the use of data sharing via proxies (screenshots, Powerpoint) and duplication in information silos forming between teams and departments which generate errors and are an inefficient use of time.

Arithmix enables the sharing of sensitive information only with relevant parties, collecting data points from an arbitrary number of people without affecting others' data and allowing live collaboration across departments.

These benefits apply across many industries, including Financial Institutions, Healthcare Services, however, the cost-effective nature of Arithmix predominantly targets SMEs.
