Abstract
Digital transformation is one of the NHS's main strategies for achieving the Triple Aim of Better Health, Better Healthcare and Better Value, however there is a shortage of suppliers helping to digitally transform mental health (MH) services. There is a gap in the market for a digital platform to support MH professionals to achieve more.
This project will use sensors to produce a digital system which will help support patient safety and wellbeing. The research will involve evaluation of various technologies, algorithm development work and testing in various environments. The research will consider complex behaviours (suicidal and self-harm for example) in the design. Our proposed system will empower clinicians and patients with data in order to enhance their safety and experience on the ward. The work is supported by a number of stakeholders, including NHS MH Trusts, who will contribute to the research.
