Very High Speed Door mechanism : Improving Building efficiency: VHSD

Lead Participant: NDT EQUIPMENT LIMITED

Abstract

Very High Speed Door mechanism to Improving Building thermal efficiency: VHSD.

The VHSD project aims to dramatically reduce the energy losses from industrial buildings to the environment by minimising the problem of heat escaping each time an external door is opened and closed. We solve these problems by introducing a new class of _'Very'_ high speed door (VHSD) mechanism with open/close cycle times down to 2 seconds. We address the market for large industrial doors (typ. 3m x 3m) both on external doors and internal refrigerated-storage doors.
Introduction of this technology worldwide can save almost 5 million tonnes of CO2 annually. Customers will see significant reductions to heating / cooling energy bills \[by approximately £750 per year per door\] while improving productivity as forklifts are free to pass quickly through these doors without waiting.
