Abstract
The aim is to develop technology-driven solutions for the Creative-Industries Theatre sector that substantially reduce production costs & lead times and increase existing levels of artistic performance excellence. These innovative software tools will greatly improve the Theatre’s ability to undertake more performances each year and address Arts Council National Priorities. The outputs will yield significant cost-, quality- and deliver- based competitive advantage for project partners and the wider UK theatre sector providing significant global competitive advantage. Major deliverables include methods for (i) interpreting scripts and time-phased relationships with actors, cues, stage directions and equipment; (ii) supporting the planning & control of production processes using novel software tools and flexible planning systems; (iii) reducing production times using advanced rehearsal planning systems; (iv) providing decision support for script, communication, props, costume and equipment management and commercial decision-making. A product-development management software tool will plan resources, activities and costs of a project or product for the wider creative industries.
