Abstract
BBconnect is a people-centred, system aware design feasibility investigation. We aim to define innovation opportunities, generate and evaluate viable ideas for more accessible, effective and integrated bladder and bowel care services.
Clinician-led charity Bladder and Bowel UK and design specialists Lucid Group will collaborate in discovery, co-design and verification of the viability of potential solutions with patients, carers, clinicians and healthcare commissioners.
**Vision**
We have identified:
* Barriers to service-access, for people experiencing bladder and bowel dysfunction.
* Potential alignment to NHS priorities, to integrate care, focussed on people's needs.
* Opportunities to collect data evidencing positive impact on net-zero targets.
**Innovation**
The team has identified opportunity for a digital service aimed at:
* De-stigmatising early, self-recognition of symptoms
* Promoting awareness of the value of seeking early help
* Integrating diarisation of factors critical to care -- diet, medication, physiological measurement, exercise and lifestyle.
* Better self-management advice
* Improved data-gathering and sharing for comprehensive assessment, treatment and monitoring of environmental impacts.
**Challenge**
We aim to reach a design specification and business plan providing a value-inflection point for post-project investment in development, implementation and scale-up, leading to a sustainable, export-led, UK based business.
