Intelligent Solar Energy Storage

Abstract

This project aims to develop an intelligent domestic scale Photovoltaic (PV) an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) prototype system using a novel advanced ceramic battery. The project would develop a modular battery system, using advanced bipolar plate material, for combining with PV microgeneration, which offers high gravimetric and volumetric energy densities with long lifetime and high energy conversion efficiencies. The final system would be UPS with flexible energy storage (ES) for demand electricity usage management at peak times. This system would be designed and developed for a UK and European market. A three stage development is proposed with strategic demonstration points after 6 and 15 months with smaller scale energy storage systems for an off-grid PV-ES system (Mark I), and a PV-UPS system (Mark II). The final output will be an intelligent energy storage system for UPS and peak demand energy management (Mark III).
