Autonomous Exploration, Data Acquisition, Processing & Visualisation
Lead Participant:
Q-BOT LIMITED
Abstract
Q-Bot specialises in robotic services in the built environment, that allow easier, cheaper, safer and more effective repair, maintenance and upgrade of buildings and infrastructure. The initial application is the retrofit of underfloor insulation to buildings at a fraction of the current cost, and with none of the hassle of traditional methods using a robot to apply insulation in an environment which is currently inaccessible for human operatives without prohibitive disruption and expense. The service is now being commercialised with a number of clients including Local Authorities and Housing Associations (with almost 100 sites successfully insulated and over 300 committed to by our clients). This project will build on our existing robotic vehicle system tested and validated in demanding environments while delivering commercial services and will develop an innovative, new autonomous navigation capability, new ROS and the interface that allow for autonomous navigation, data acquisition, processing and mapping of unknown environments (complete with object/feature assessment and cataloguing).
