Newton Fund - Personalised Service Assistant for Journey Planner

Lead Participant: CIP TECHNOLOGY LTD

Abstract

Congestion is an international problem, particularly in highly populated urban areas. Congestion decreases

the intension of the residents to use public transport, which is particularly serious in Malaysia where only 17%

of residents in Kuala Lumpur use public transportation. To improve the public transport services has become an

urgent agenda for Malaysia’s national commission of land transport, SPAD. This consortium aims to address this

urgent challenge by developing an intelligent and personalised service assistant for SPAD. Advanced but proven

technologies will be applied to enable a fast development so that SPAD will have an intelligent system to use

after the completion of the project. This project uses the latest networking, computing and artificial intelligence

technologies to record the user’s trajectories, analyse the behaviour of the users, suggest personalised stop-by-

stop itinerary, provide personalised advertisement to improve prosperity of the operators and third party

commercial partners, plan new routes and optimise existing routes by using big data analytics and innovative

optimisation tools, and enable users to log their complaints so as to improve the services in the future.
