Multi-Material Microfabrication Process Development Centre for UK Industry

Lead Participant: TIMEC 1382 LIMITED

Abstract

The M3DC project will develop and provide enabling microfabrication technologies and capabilities to UK industry innovators, from established global market leaders to SMEs including high growth potential venture capital funded start-ups. Microfabrication technologies underpin innovation in diverse sectors from healthcare to aerospace and defence; valued together at billions of pounds and within which the UK has a globally competitive edge.
The project will be delivered by the independent company INEX Microtechnology Ltd. It will focus on the development and qualification of novel micro-manufacturing processes. These processes are used in the fabrication of microelectronic components in materials such as gallium nitride and diamond for defence and aerospace applications, and in silicon, glass and polymer based electro-mechanical and fluidic devices finding increasingly diverse applications from DNA-based disease diagnostics to detection of concealed weapons and explosives.
The resulting manufacturing processes will be made available to UK industry for use in the development and realisation of high value microfabricated products.
