HTAE Test - Fasttrack boost to commercial satellite propulsion

Lead Participant: NAMMO WESTCOTT LTD

Abstract

AMPAC Isp UK at its Westcott site is developing a high thrust, high performance chemical apogee boost engine for future spacecraft, building on its experience with the Leros product line. After completing a preliminary design and a review by the European Space Agency in mid 2012, AMPAC and Airborne Engineering Ltd intend to collaborate to conduct a series of rapid hot firing tests to test critical items for this engine. Data from the proposed firings will verify performance predictions and will be shared with spacecraft bus manufacturers in Europe to bring this engine rapidly to the commercial market. The engine and propulsion test capability at the Westcott site will also be enhanced bringing in test business that currently goes outside the UK
