Abstract
This project has been conceived as Hybrid Vehicle OEMs using Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBT) controlled power electronics to control variable-frequency electric traction motors face challenges with electrical interference generated from the power cables in the data transmission and low-voltage control wiring, also affects the locality through which the vehicle is driving (eg domestic properties and hospitals) and is an obstacle in achieving mass market readiness. The current solution is coaxial copper cable and a reliance on the steel frame of the car which are proving less than satisfactory because of weight, the lack of effective suppression and any move to composite panels or vehicle structures will exacerbate external interference. The solution is seen to be an innovative, woven carbon-fibre tube containing strands of copper and/or nickel-plated polyester and moulded into an epoxy-based composite structure, which is lightweight with excellent attenuation properties.
