Introduction of Selectivity in Gas Sensors using Nanostructure Selection Acronym: NanoSelect

Lead Participant: ROBOSCIENTIFIC LIMITED

Abstract

Human breath analysis is becoming very important in healthcare screening as it is non-invasive and breath contains many chemical compounds that can indicate the medical status of the patient. To date the presence of cancers, pulmonary infections and the onset of diabetes have all been linked to breath. The NanoSelect project is aimed at making breath analysis more simple and at less cost for healthcare providers such as the NHS. The project aims to demonstrate the production and use of new gas sensors that are more selective for the volatile chemicals in breath that can indicate disease. These chemicals are called biomarkers and being able to accurately detect and report them in breath using low cost analysers will be a significant step forward in healthcare and for the early treatment of patients. Staff of RoboScientific Ltd, the company leading the project, have many years of experience and the Bloodhound® tradmarked product range, has an excellent pedigree in healthcare analysis.
