INDEPENDENCE

Lead Participant: POW HEALTH LIMITED

Abstract

Project INDEPENDENCE will investigate the feasibility of an innovative integrated system that uses personal data

to significantly enhance both the quality of life and the standards of care and services for people living with dementia and their carers (collectively the user). By integrating personal data with public data we will enable users to prolong identity and independence, which are widely recognised as being key factors in slowing the progression of the condition, avoiding acute incidents and providing better, more cost effective care. Currently tools available to people living with dementia are static apps or paper based systems which are ineffective as they cannot be easily shared or accessed by care and service providers and do not reflect the individuals needs. By creating a digital profile and interactive daily planner we will enable the use of personal data in an innovative way that creates maximum impact. The system will also generate substantial and critical cost savings to service providers and will allow the creation of personalised consumer-led products and services, by aggregating individual user data and making it available to care and service providers in both the private and public sectors.
