Description | The study proved constructed wetlands to be a viable solution for control of microplastics pollution and AMR hazard in wastewater. |
Exploitation Route | The results of the study are particularly important for the water sector as it provide further evidence on the benefits of constructed wetlands in the water management schemes. Future water policies will sooner or later target microplastics and AMR pollution, thus the results obtained in the project provide support for the water sector for the selection of the water management strategies and future investments. |

Description | The investigation report has been submitted to the Wessex Water (water company) to support internal feasibility study for the further implementation of constructed wetlands in the operational area of South-West England. Wessex Water is committed to increase investment in nature-based solution to improve its environmental impact. Additionally, I have used the obtained knowledge in the area of nature-based solutions and microplastic pollution to support policy making porcess during my placement at Welsh Government. |

Results and Impact | The webinar aimed to discuss the application of constructed wetlands in UK's wastewater treatment scheme. The speakers presented case study of Cromhall Integrated Constructed Wetland operated by Wessex Water. The webinar hosted more than 200 participants, mostly professionals from water industry. The webinar was followed by series of questions from the audience focusing on different range of topics including economics of CW management and operational difficulties/challenges as well as policy and regulation related to nature based solutions. |
