Pore-scale modelling of multi-phase flow and the impact of wettability
Lead Research Organisation:
Imperial College London
Department Name: Earth Science and Engineering
Abstract
Pore-scale modelling is a computational approach to studying fluid flow through permeable media. In this project a generalised network model will be used and further developed to simulate multi-phase flow on topologically equivalent networks extracted from micro-CT images of real rocks. The project aim is to better predict macroscopic flow properties and the effect that wettability has on them. If successful, this will have applications in enhanced oil recovery, carbon sequestration and fuel cell development.
