Tools for live-cell imaging in the millisecond regime using Electrically Tunable Lenses
Lead Research Organisation:
Queen Mary University of London
Department Name: Sch of Biological and Chemical Sciences
Abstract
This interdisciplinary project exploits both computational and cell biology approaches to develop a cutting-edge high-speed imaging tool for long-term imaging of light-sensitive live-cells. Fitting strongly with BBSRC priority for 'Technology development for the biosciences', the student will acquire skills to exploit deconvolution algorithms, microscope control tools and light-sensitive cells. For maximum scientific and commercial impact, the tool developed should be tested on a range of light microscopes; and the input from IMSOL is vital to delivery of this proposal. The partner has extensive experience in both student supervision and research and development, and is a well-established UK SME.
