Abstract
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disabling disease of the central nervous system characterised by inflammation, demyelination, and neurodegeneration. Most patients ultimately develop a progressive form of MS (PMS) with advanced disability, and few therapeutic options. Due to their immunomodulatory, self-renewal, and differentiation abilities, neural stem cells (NSCs) have been proposed as a promising cell-based regeneration therapy for PMS. Induced (i)NSCs derived from autologous somatic cells via direct conversion are considered the most suitable as they avoid potential safety and ethical concerns.
