Abstract
This project is concerned with developing novel methods to optimise certain aspects of the future air transport system of systems using agent-based modelling and simulation. There are multiple stakeholders and dimensions to be considered, including the impact on the environment, aircraft manufacturer, airlines, uncertainty and resilience of the constituent systems making up the air transport system of systems, and many more.
Next generation model-based systems engineering, and co-simulation methodologies will be developed to facilitate exploration and optimisation of the air transport system trade space.
There are a significant number of parameters involved in the optimisation of the air transport system, it is hoped that agent-based modelling techniques will help solve the complex interactions involved. The research will consider how a future air transport system of systems will evolve from the current state to a future more environmentally and sustainable state.
